Lung cancer is one of the most deadly cancers in the world. After heart disease, lung cancer is the main cause of death around the world. When the body cells start growing and multiplying in an uncontrolled manner it is called cancer. And lung cancer is caused due to uncontrolled growth of cells in lung tissue.
There are two main types of lung cancer- small cell lung cancer and non small cell cancer. It is caused due to many reason including smoking, passive smoking, and exposure to asbestos and radon gas. The risk of getting lung cancer is increased if there is family history of lung cancer. This cancer can be prevented by avoiding second hand smoking, eating diet rich in fresh vegetables and fruits, and so on. At the time of diagnoses about 25 percent of people suffering with lung cancer does not show any symptoms. Thus lung cancer can be avoided in many ways.
