Through out the world there are numerous people addicted to cigarette smoking. There are several reasons behind smoking as some people start smoking in their teen age for the sake of thrill and enjoyment. Some people smoke to get relief from stress. It is mostly seen people with low esteem are more addicted to smoking. Smoking cause several serious and fatal diseases.
Cancer: Cancer risk is higher in smokers. Due to carcinogen present in tobacco it causes lungs cancer, mouth, and throat and gullet cancer. According to the scientific reports 90% of lung cancer is caused because of smoking. Smoking can also cause other types of cancers including bladder, kidney, pancreatic and esophagus cancer. Cervical cancer mostly effects female smoker.
Cardiovascular disease: Cardiovascular disease is the major cause of death because of smoking. Tobacco consists of Nicotine which causes high cholesterol level in blood. And the hardening of arteries id due to deposition of fats and cholesterol that causes cardiovascular disease such as heart stroke, thrombosis, and cerebral thrombosis and so on.
Other problems caused by smoking
Smoking damages the lining of blood vessels and affects the fat level in the blood stream causing risk of atheroma.
It affects your oral health and can stain your teeth and gums. It can cause gums and teeth problems like swollen gums.
It increases the rate of mouth ulcer.
Several sexual problems are also caused due to smoking.
Smoking adversely affects your health and even people in contact of passive smoking are affected. So to prevent health problems it is best to quit smoking.

How to quit smoking is the question all smokers around the globe ask themselves and each other. If you really want to quit but cold turkey hasn’t really been so hot with you, here are ten new ways to stop smoking that you probably haven’t thought of yet.
10.Become antisocial. That is, keep away from other smokers. Whether you’re 13 or 31 years old, peer pressure can be just as big a factor in the decisions you make. If ‘your clique’ means you and the smoking room regulars, you really shouldn’t wonder that you can’t quit your pack-a-day habit. Keep away from regular smokers for a while, just so you minimize the temptation.
9.Annoy someone – the guy at the cigarette store, especially. It’s not so much testing your powers to pester as it is attaching a negative association to cigarettes in general. Besides, where are you going to get new smokes if the cigarette store guy already put a price on your head? The trick here is to make it inconvenient for you to get another ream of cigarettes, and it definitely won’t be easy buying even a stick from someone who’s after your blood.
8.Talk to a non-quitter and listen to him/her hack and cough his/her lungs out. Smoking really does destroy your lungs and the rest of your respiratory system. Maybe you just need a physical reminder of that fact coughing up mucus in front of you every 5 minutes to motivate you to stop.

The reinforcement – that is, the reward or the punishment – should also help strengthen your resolve.
Quitting isn’t easy, but it’s most certainly doable. This is the one time when you’re a winner only if you quit.
