Weight gain can be an achievement, a curse or just a down-right horror! If you have a real reason to be concerned, one that is justified by abnormal standards, then here are some things you might need to know.
Slim people who have a high metabolic rate burn calories very quickly and seem to stay on the slim side. Young men who are in high school feel inferior if they are slim and wish that they could have that football player’s physique. There are some considerations before beginning a crash course to gain some pounds. You need to talk with your doctor.
Today there are too many wonder remedies to everyday concerns. Why would you choose to go it alone with the ads in the back of the magazines? Consulting with you doctor is really much better because he will let you know what is FDA approved and what is really just a scam. Your health is more important than choosing the seemingly easy way out.
Your doctor will recommend supplements and may want you to get involved in an exercise program to help you build muscle along with the intake of the supplements. Muscle gain is extremely important when you are trying to sculpt a better body.
Perhaps you have the opposite problem and you can’t imagine how you have gained weight. Many factors influence weight gain. Everything from a change in lifestyle to new medications, to injuries and lack of exercise. Oh, by the way, overeating is a huge factor. Find out what is the proper number of calories you should consume for your age, sex and height. Charts are available on the Internet and in books. It is so easy to justify that ice cream cone in the summer or those hot chocolates in the cold months.
Calories are calories and if you consume more than you body needs, they become stored as fat. Younger men and women have an easier time losing weight by watching calories and exercising. Their metabolism, or the rate at which their bodies use the energy from calories, is much higher than that of the middle-aged or older person.
Medications that cause weight gain can be monitored or adjusted by your doctor, but when it comes to antidepressants, you must to talk to your doctor before you quit your medication.
Older seniors are no longer as active as they once were and tend to hold on to the pounds that come along. Thankfully, their appetites don’t seem as huge as they once were either. A healthy life style is still very important, and the elastic waistbands really are not as ugly as some may think…one extra inch should not be considered as ugly. It is when the inches keep growing that you need a doctors help! Being happy is an important part of a healthy lifestyle.

Heart disease is a huge problem today in the United States. Learning to have a healthy life style will help in the prevention of this crippling disease, but it does take a conscious effort on your part. There are several forms of heart disease such as heart valve disease, heart muscle disease, congenital heart disease and congestive heart failure to name some.
Arrhythmia is another problem known as heart disease and is a problem that deals with the rhythm of the beating heart. Marfan Syndrome is an inherited genetic disease which causes a weakening of all connective tissues including those tissues of the heart.
If your doctor thinks you are at risk for heart disease or has actually diagnosed you or a loved one with a problem, there are some measures that will lessen the disease and its potentially fatal effects.
The arteries begin collecting fat as early as childhood. Good eating habits should start as soon as a child begins to eat regular food. Information about nutrition is important from childhood through old age. Good fat, bad fat! Read the labels and have a lipid panel blood test. That’s how your doctor will determine your risks. The cholesterol numbers are very important. Your doctor may even have you take a cholesterol lowering drug, but his biggest advice will be to watch your intake of saturated fats.
If you smoke, your doctor will want you to quit…not decrease your use of tobacco, but to quit. Many programs assists you in your efforts and the doctor may also provide a prescription for a nicotine patch. How ever you do it, just do it. The nicotine in cigarretes constricts the arteries. Now you have fat accumulating in narrow passageways and the heart is in trouble.
Exercising on a daily basis is a terrific approach to lessening the problems that come with heart disease. Since your heart is a muscle, the more aerobic type exercise you do,(walking, jogging, dancing) the more your heart strengthens and improves. All exercise should be approved by your doctor before you begin. He will know which exercises are appropriate for your heart disease. He may also want you to loose some weight in conjunction with the exercises. Support groups at your local hospital will help you reach your goal and then maintain it.
If you don’t have a heart disease, the aforementioned tips are the way to keep your lifestyle healthy. Keep that heart healthy if you can, and if you have a genetic heart problem, be kind to the heart and follow your doctors suggestions.

You should be aware of the causes and symptoms of heart attacks. A heart attack is medically called a myocardial infarction and occurs when the blood supply to the heart is interrupted. This interruption of blood flow to the heart is the leading cause of death in both men and women.
In three out of four cases, the individual will experience some symptoms which are warning signs of a heart attack. Chest pain is often the very first, followed immediately by shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, palpitations, sweating and anxiety. To know whether you are having a heart attack, don’t be fooled by looking for all the symptoms. Women have fewer symptoms and 1 in 4 people have no symptoms at all.
At the first realization that you are having a heart attack or someone you are with is having a heart attack, dial 911. This situation is a medical emergency. Regardless of how mild you may think the symptoms are, you should seek medical help.
If there is no immediate help for a heart attack, severe and permanent damage can be done to the heart and death of the victim can even be the result. Do not delay!
Taking an aspirin is something that can be done immediately if you are experiencing chest pain and shortness of breath. Once at the emergency room, other drug therapy will be given to break up any clots that are causing the stoppage of blood flow to the heart.
It is believed that anyone over the age of 20 begin assessing their risks for heart attack. Prevention is always better than treatment after the fact. Since the heart is a muscle, younger people can begin making their hearts strong by knowing how to use that muscle and care for their health.
Talk to your doctor for advice about your risks for heart attacks and contact the American Heart Association for information. Keeping your heart healthy is the first action in preventing most heart attacks. Learn to recognize how you feel.
Knowing the symptoms of having a heart attack and taking immediate action during a heart attack may save your life.
