Many women keep juggling between heightened sexual desire, their approximate ovulation date, and their monthly periods. It is also true that unless they use some guaranteed contraceptive measure, they are very much concerned about the safe period to have unprotected sex.

But one of the funniest things may be said that mostly all women experience heightened sex drive around their menses or even during their menses. The reason behind is no doubt hormonal. Because of less estrogen reserves during this period, their sex drive gets a boost. However, can women really enjoy sex during those 4-5 days of vaginal bleeding? Let’s see the different perspectives-

  • First of all, let’s be sure that the bleeding you are experiencing is menstrual bleeding and not ovulatory bleeding (called mittleschmertz in medical terms). This is especially necessary for women who like to use their menstrual period as safe period for unprotected sex. However, if this is ovulatory bleeding, then you run a high risk of pregnancy. Therefore, doctors suggest that it’s unwise to use menses as a means of contraception unless you are sure of your cycles.
  • However, those women who know their ovulation approximately and have pretty regular menses, are protected during their periods and do not conceive after having sex.
  • Most doctors also state that intercourse during menses is more of a taboo all over the world, in different cultures and religions. Many women and their partners however enjoy sex during the periods because little extra fluids are available during this period and this makes their sexual experience more gratifying.
  • Another postulate says that coitus during menses eases the dysmenorrhea. It means, the sex eases the woman from the abdominal cramps she experiences during her periods. The orgasm is said to save her from cramps. This is however not true with all women and in some of them; the pain may be aggravated after intercourse.
  • The major problem most couples face is the unusual messiness during menses that occurs after intercourse. This is the reason most couples avoid intercourse during menses despite having increased sex urge. However, some couples find the use of specific tampons or diaphragms useful during menses and save them from undue messiness.
  • However, there are some risks you may have to face if you have sex during menses without condom. Let’s see what are they-

1. Most sexually transmitted organisms thrive better in the rich menstrual blood. The women or men who contact STDs during menses have worse manifestations of the disease than those who contact STDs during non-menstrual period. Thus, use of condom is stressed especially in high risk people.
2. The HIV is also transmitted easily in the menstrual blood of an infected woman.
3. Some of the gynecologists advise against the sex during menses because according to them, sex during menses can increase the risk of pelvic inflammatory disease in women.
4. If the woman is suffering from herpes infection, the flare up is common during her periods. This can lead to easy transmission of herpes virus.

Thus, there are different perspectives mentioned by experts about the safety of having sex during periods. If you are fine with the mess it causes and you are protected by use of barrier method like condom, having sex during menses is pretty much acceptable. Now your partner will not be squeamish about your complete retreat during your periods. You can also materialize your heightened sex drive during menses by having sex! Well, sex drive is the most ancient drive human being possesses. Let get accustomed to it without having taboo ideas anymore!

Sexual ProblemsAs we all know, sex is one of the commonest desires of men and women alike. With passing times, the taboo regarding sexual issues is slowly getting blurred and many women are ready to discuss the issue with their doctors, physicians, and in online forums. Women’s life is no doubt filled to the brim with varied milestones that start right from the onset of her menstrual cycle. Thereafter she undergoes pregnancy, child-rearing, menopausal blues, and various problems pertaining to these periods.

Among all the problems, she dreads the problems that occur during sexual intercourse. This is because the sex is the thing that is very close to her heart and so is her partner. The sex for her is not mere physical thing but a blend of physical and emotional pleasure and therefore, those are the happy women who enjoy their sex life.

Comprehending the common problems during intercourse can help a woman understand her problems and she can take appropriate treatment for the same. Let’s see the problems-

1) Pain during coitus- it is termed dyspareunia in medical terms. This is one of the commonest conditions encountered by women during intercourse. Well, those women who encounter some degree of pain during initial period after marriage do not have much reason to worry because such pain is common and diminishes after a few days of regular intercourse. So the girls and women out there on their honeymoons need not fret the pain during coitus.

But those women who continue to have pain during sex need to visit good gynecologist so that the cause can be found and treated appropriately.

There may be vaginal infections like Chlamydia, trichomoniasis, etc.

There might be vaginismus during coitus leading to spasmodic contraction of vagina thus causing pain. This may be attributed to the emotional discomfort, a kind of fearful attitude towards sex or may be due to some vaginal infections also. Appropriate anti-infective treatment can put an end to your woes and you can enjoy your sex.Endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and polyps can also give rise to pain during intercourse. The gynecologist advice and treatment are must for these cases.

2) Bleeding during or after intercourse- there are many women who have a great act of love and suddenly find themselves bleeding heavily. One thing is sure that these women must get their gynecological investigations done from experts because this may be the sign of some underlying problems like cervicitis, sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea, cervical polyps, pelvic inflammatory disease, uterine fibroid, and cervical cancer. However, if such bleeding occurs in post-menopausal woman without any positive investigation report, be sure that it occurred due to dryness of vagina due to hormonal depletion. An appropriate hormone replacement therapy is what such women need and can very well restore normal sexual function thereafter.

3) Urinary incontinence- there are women who experience dribbling urine during or after coitus. This is an embarrassing situation but pretty common than it is thought to be. Some women complain of urinary incontinence during penetration and some complain it only after they get orgasm. The irritable bladder or weakness at the neck of bladder may be the likely cause. However, the exact cause still eludes in most women. Emptying bladder just before coitus may help. Don’t indulge in caffeinated drinks before coitus. If there is leakage of urine also during other times, you may be having a problem of urinary incontinence due to fistulae occurred during delivery. Consult your gynecologist for further evaluation.

4) some or the other minor problems like post-coital headaches or semen allergies may occur though are rare as compared to above mentioned symptoms and can be treated accordingly. Emotional problems related to disharmonized coitus may occur in couples with any kind of discord. Psychotherapy and counseling can help resolve these problems.

Thus, venting out your sexual problem at least in front of gynecologist is the crux of receiving appropriate treatment. You definitely do not want to waste your sex life due to these problems. Get treated and enjoy normal sex again!

Like dieting, exercise and most other weight loss programs, there’s no single way to get a liposuction done. Just like there are many ways to skin the cat, there are also many ways to lose the fat with liposuction. Several techniques exist, each one with its own pros and cons. If you’re planning to have liposuction done, this is just one of the things that you have to discuss with your physician prior to the procedure.

Liposuction techniques vary in two ways: the amount of liquid that’s injected into your skin during the procedure and the mechanism that’s used. The surgeon will inject solutions that can be composed of a vasoconstrictor, a local anesthetic and sometimes saline solution in varying ratios. These help the fat get sucked out, minimize the pain and decrease bleeding and negative post-operative effects.

The most common variant of this quick weight loss solution is tumescent liposuction, which dilutes the subcutaneous fat with a local anesthetic and vasoconstrictor solution. With a ratio of three parts dilute solution to one part fat, it creates a large space in the subcutaneous area that allows the cannula or the fat-sucking proboscis to pass safely. This is the de facto standard for liposuction techniques.

In terms of technology, suction-assisted liposuction (SAL) is the standard technology used all over the world. A cannula – a long, hollow metal rod that resembles a straw – is thrust repeatedly into the subcutaneous layer of fat to break it down into smaller bits. The smaller chunks of fat are then suctioned out using an aspirator machine through the same cannula.

Your physician should inform you of all your options with regard to the technique to be used in liposuction. Your body will react and heal differently to each technique, so your choice should be based on your fitness level and recovery time frame.
