Can you imagine having the ability to visit another country and take in all the sights while you are recovering from surgery?  That’s impossible, right?  No, actually it is very possible.  Medical tourism has a new way to get a medical tourism procedure and take vacation at the same time.  Medical tourism is the practice of a patient going to other countries for healthcare services outside of where they are a resident.  It is becoming a popular form of healthcare as they start figuring out the benefits.

POPULARITY

The popularity for Medical tourism is growing to an all-time high.  The easiest reason for the popularity is that it is a great deal for people.  Another easy reason is just simply tourism.  Someone coming for a procedure can get away and enjoy the scenes of the country where they have to recover.

BENEFITS

There are numerous reasons to travel and have medical treatment outside your home country.  It might be healthier and cheaper for you to get your treatment abroad.

The large potential for savings – The cost could be as low as a tenth of the cost in your home country
Availability – Most of the medical tourism procedures could be scheduled within weeks, even days, in a foreign hospital.
Better personal care – They offer exceptional quality and service because they wish to draw in the business.

Vacation – You will not have any phones to ring or responsibilities to take care of while there.
Package Deals – some companies will offer you a package deal with your surgery.  They could include the surgery, transportation to and from airport, as well as all accommodations needed to make this a comfortable trip.

Just remember a few tips to ensure your stay is the best it possibly can be.  Schedule your flight home at least one week after surgery.  Give yourself time to recover as well as taking in the sights while in the country.  Be sure to make your post-op appointments.  While enjoying yourself in this country, take it easy so you don’t have any complications.  Just do your homework to keep yourself at the lowest risk possible.  If you educate yourself, you will have a very rewarding experience.

COPD stands for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.  The indications of it are that it is very hard for you to breathe because of multiple breathing disorders.
Your doctor will perform what is known commonly as PFT.  PFT stands for Pulmonary Functions Test. You breath into a tube long and hard as you can.
You will be given some medicine and then you try testing again to see what improvement if any was on the previous readings.  The PFT will print out a pattern of your breathing so the doctor can possibly diagnose the exact nature of your problem.  He will also do a simple test called oxymetry.  Oxymetry is very painless and takes seconds to complete.  The doctor will place a thing that looks like a high tech clothes pin on one of your fingers, in seconds it will show what percentage of air you are receiving compared to what you should have used.

To have COPD you must be diagnosed with at least two respiratory disorders.
If you’ve been told you have both asthma and bronchitis, most likely you have it.
Other combinations of respiratory distress can cause COPD as well.

If you get diagnosed with it, your doctor will most likely give you pills and/or an inhaler to control it.  In severe cases a nebulizer may also be prescribed.  These items are the best treatments for COPD.

If you think you may have COPD, call your doctor right away.  The sooner you’re treated, the better you’ll feel.

If you are like many people, you get wrist pains when typing at the computer or using the mouse.  What causes these pains?  Usually the culprit for all of this is a condition known as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.  With this the nerve ganglia leading into your hands and digits is impeded and thereby reduces function and causes pain.

The Carpal Tunnel is the passageway that these nerve ganglia go through. When you frequently use the computer or do other repetitive work the tunnel breaks down and this hinders nerve functioning.  You get pains in your wrists and hands.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is classified as a stress or repetitive motion type injury.  This is because the monotonous and tedious work of the computer takes its toll on your hands.  Is there anything that can be done for it?

If you already have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, most likely your doctor will put your hands in braces for a few weeks.  These braces are Velcro units that have plastic and steel bars in them to prevent movement.  This will allow the tunnel in your wrist to heal up and allow nerve impulses to be received again. Once this treatment is done you need to take measures to prevent it happening again.

Use a mouse pad with a wrist guard on it, preferably a gel one.  Put a wrist guard at the front edge of your keyboard, again preferably on that is gel filled.  Try to alter your computer schedule to allow your body time for its own regeneration at the end of the day.  Follow these measures and you should be OK.
