Disabled will Protest against Spending Cuts
Disable people are still due to participate in the protest against UK government for cuts. Campaign organizers of Hardest Hit stated that rallies will start from London and end at Edinburgh. They will go through from eleven cities.
The protesters are objecting the cuts in various areas of disability like allowance, local services and benefits. Ministers mentioned that the system is falling down and welfare program is not reaching to those people who need it most.
In May, the demonstrators organized by the Disability Benefits Consortium and the UK Disabled Council. These events are organizing after a year of Spending Review by government in different cities like Manchester, London, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Leeds.
Protesters give message of those disable people who cannot become a part of the event. Steve Winyard, co-chairman at Hardest Hit coalition, said “one single achievement” and concluded that whether Maria Miller, the disability minister took united steps for disability.
Then he added in his statement that “The proposed cuts have brought together disability charities and disabled people’s organizations into a single united force where previously we’ve had a difficult relationship with differences on policy and ideology”.
Jaspal Dhani, the chairman said that the government broke the promise to defend disabled from the spending cuts. Then he said “Disabled people can’t be squeezed any further, that is why so many of us will be joining the Hardest Hit protests in cities across the country and online”.
